PROGRAMS Equine Rescue Programs
Auction Rescues Many horses brought to auctions are very nice, serviceably sound, adoptable horses with a curable illness or an injury that in time, will heal. We provide a home and a nurturing environment to help bring about those changes. We also rescue from the slaughterhouse: we buy the most adoptable horses before they get to the slaughterhouse.
Private Donations and Race Track Rescue We receive ex-race horses into our program as well as privately owned horses. Many owners choose to donate their loved equines to rescues rather than send them to auction or sell them on the open market.

PMU Foal Rescue "PMU" means pregnant mare urine. PMU is processed into conjugated estrogen. Some women take estrogen as part of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) to relieve symptoms such as hot flashes and mood swings during menopause. "PMU" mares are stabled under highly controversial and unimaginable conditions to concentrate and retrieve their urine. The foals are taken from their mothers shortly after birth and the mare is impregnated to continue the cycle. Foals are shipped to auctions and sold to the highest bidders. Many bidders are slaughterhouse representatives. This rescue aids other rescues in the purchase of foals at auction or at PMU farms. These foals make wonderful pleasure, sport or fine show horses.
