BASIC TERMS OF ADOPTION and APPLICATION QUESTIONS:

  1. This horse cannot be raced or used as a polo pony. New Beginnings Equine Placement, Inc. (NBEP) may repossess said horse without notice if used for either of the aforementioned.
  2. This horse may need additional training for discipline or riding that Adoptive Owner may be interested in pursuing.
  3. It is agreed that this horse will never be sent to a slaughter facility. If the horse has to be euthanized, it must be done in a humane way by lethal injection administered by a licensed veterinarian. NBEP must be notified before, if possible, or immediately after the process. Proof of death must be provided, such as a veterinarian’s invoice or written statement from a veterinarian.
  4. Horse should be de-wormed every 6-8 weeks. Horse should also be vaccinated for rhino, flu, EWE, rabies, strangles & tetanus each year.
  5. There is to be no transfer of ownership of this adopted horse. If not satisfied with, unable to afford or properly care for adopted horse, Adoptive Owner must RETURN HORSE TO NBEP.
  6. If the horse is returned to NBEP, the horse MUST be returned in the same or better condition as when adopted or the adoptive owner is responsible for any veterinary costs associated with the horse’s ailment(s). Ailments can be, but are not limited to: cuts and abrasions, respiratory illnesses or other ailments received while in the possession of adoptive owner. The adoptive owner is also responsible for transportation and costs associated with transport of the adopted horse to NBEP.
  7. NBEP requests the right to visit said horse after giving reasonable notice, such as a 24 hour notice, to adoptive owner. Please note that if the horse is found to be either in poor condition, such as extremely thin with prominence of ribs, covered with visible open or healing wounds or other visible signs of poor care or mistreatment, or living in a squalid environment such as a stall clearly packed with feces or in a paddock clearly inundated in manure or water, NBEP retains the right to repossess the horse without notice.
  8. The above Basic Terms of Adoption are highlights of the terms of the Adoption Agreement and are in no way meant to be the Adoption Agreement terms in its entirety.

Please allow two weeks for processing this adoption request.

Please make note of the following:

  • Changes in housing and routine may produce changes in the behavior of the horse, therefore additional training for both riding and ground manners may be necessary. Training or consultations by an equine professional is recommended to ease transition stress for both the new owner and horse.
  • NBEP makes no guarantees in writing or verbally on the soundness of any animal available for adoption. NBEP will gladly honor the Adoptive Owner’s request for a pre-purchase veterinary examination, the invoice to be paid by the Adoptive Owner.
  • Horses are unpredictable animals. Consequently, NBEP is not responsible for any damages to persons or property once the horse is adopted.
  • Once a donation is received, there is no refund of that donation under any circumstances.

I have thoroughly read and fully understand the terms of this 2-page application.
